Ladies Love Nature Retreat

This retreat will give you the opportunity to relax in nature, visit exotic sites and experience the traditional techniques of creating beauty products, baskets, chocolate and rum! You will travel through verdant rainforests, stopping for local juice and handmade snacks along the way. The hikes are easy, and the beaches are beautiful! On our ladies only retreat you will wake up to new experiences and taste local cuisine with like-minded ladies to share experiences with, so grab your passport and we will meet you at the airport!

Wotton Waven - Wotten Waven, Saint George Parish, Dominica

Day 1. Hello Dominica & Welcome

Arrive at Douglas Charles Airport where your transport driver will be waiting for you. Enjoy a scenic drive through the heart of the island as you are transported to your hotel. Settle into your Roseau Valley accommodation and explore the surrounding area before meeting the ladies at your welcome dinner this evening. Dinner Included  

Day 2. Eco Farm, Emerald Pool & Jaco Falls

An early morning start will bring us to an eco-farm that is dedicated to the preservation and sustainability of the forest. This activity is a blend of fun and education of freshly harvested tropical fruits, other foods and farm products. Don’t forget to taste some!  After, we will head to the Emerald Pool, an invigorating natural rock pool under an impressive 40 ft. waterfall.  You can swim under the waterfall or relax on the deck and listen to the sounds of the rainforest. Don’t forget to check out the tropical plants in their natural habitat surrounding the Emerald Pool to discover why this magical gem gets its name. Next, we will have lunch at the exquisite Pagua Bay House where you can also take a dip in the pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean before we visit Jaco Falls. Breakfast Included / Lunch Included 

Day 3. Bird Watching, Horseback Riding & Beach

Today we’re off to search for the endemic and critically endangered Sisserou Parrot with the birding specialist of Dominica! This colorful parrot lives only in the canopy of Dominica and is also the national bird as it is represented on the Flag. We will also be on the lookout for the Jaco Parrot and the Kalinago Wren, also endemic birds of Dominica, as well as other birds, such as the Blue Headed Hummingbird, the Antillean Crested Hummingbird, and the Roufus Throated Solitaire. After our bird-watching adventure, a beautiful waterfall awaits us, Milton Falls, standing over 100ft. Get out your cameras and snap some selfies with the ladies in front of this magnificent waterfall. After lunch, our journey brings us to Fort Shirley, located in Cabrits National Park. Learn about the history within the walls of Fort Shirley, an old garrison built in the 18th century, where many revolts took place for control over the island and fights for freedom. The rest of the day will be spent horseback riding in the sea and relaxing at the beach while listening to the lulling tropical sounds before sunset. *Tonight, We Will Overnight at a beach hotel located in Portsmouth. Day 4. Kalinago Cultural Village & River Tubing

The Kalinago have a deep-rooted history in Dominica. Upon arrival in the Kalinago Territory, we are going to meet our guide & representative who will share a bit of their culture, heritage and traditional way of life. We will also learn a little Kalinago history in Dominica as we watch and participate in traditional methods of basket weaving and Cassava bread baking before lunch. Next we will experience the rainforest from another viewpoint by gliding down the Pagua River. Get on your inner tube, drink in hand, and let’s go! On this adventure we will meander down the river listening to the tropical sounds of the rainforest. Breakfast Included / Dinner Included 

Day 5. Canyoning, Botanical Gardens & Roseau

We will head over to Fond Cani this morning for our exciting canyoning adventure. With the help of experienced canyoning guides, you will discover your inner adventurer far beneath the sunlit canopy of the rainforest. Don’t worry, canyoning is for any level of experience (or no experience) so just grab your waterproof camera and the ladies and let’s go! We will stop to change before heading down to Roseau for a wonderful view overlooking the city from the top of Morne Bruce before settling in for a laid-back dining experience. Breakfast Included 

Day 6. Middleham Falls, TiTou Gorge & Warm Minerals Springs

Today we visit the Morne Trois Piton National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lush tropical vegetation and the sounds of songbirds surround you on this empowering hike to Middleham Falls. This is the tallest waterfall on the island at an impressive 270 ft. The hike will take us through dense rainforest and muddy trails so be sure to pack your dirtiest hiking shoes. After lunch you will arrive at Ti Tou Gorge and get a chance to swim in the same location where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed before visiting Trafalgar Falls. The beauty of these falls is that there are two of them, also known as the mama and papa falls. Next, we’ll visit the warm mineral springs, where you will sit back and relax in the healing geothermal spring water. Breakfast Included / Lunch Included / Dinner Included  

Day 7. Cocoa Farm, Chocolate & Relax

Today we leave Roseau Valley and begin our journey to the southeast side of the island. We will arrive at Kako Fwe where we will learn how chocolate is produced from bean to bar right here in Dominica using locally sourced cocoa beans. Try the different flavors and styles of chocolate such as cocoa nibs, bars, cocoa gin and cocoa tea! After we have put our cocoa picking and chocolate making skills to the test, we will take a scenic drive back to our hotel where you may decide to rest, swim, relax or explore before dinner. Day 8. Rum Distillery, Zip Line & Turtles

We will visit a local rum distillery and learn how this rum is made using sustainable practices. We will also gain an understanding of the importance of Sea Turtle Conservation and how this distillery is helping to contribute to that endeavor. Next we will stop for lunch before our Zip lining adventure to the private Flockys Waterfall located within Newfoundland Estate. Afterwards we will head back to our hotel, get ready for dinner and prepare for our exciting experience on the beach looking for turtle hatchlings with experienced turtle conservation professionals. Breakfast Included / Lunch Included / Dinner Included 

Day 9. Wellness Spa, Herbal Tea & Rosalie

Wake up whenever you want today, just don’t miss your Bamboo Massage at the Wellness Spa! Take some time for yourself, explore the property, explore the village and join the group in the late afternoon for a wellness consultation and bush tea tasting. Breakfast Included / Lunch Included / Dinner Included 

Day 10. Geneva Heritage Site & Grand Bay

After breakfast we will set out for Geneva Heritage site. Here we will learn about the Geneva Uprising of 1974 and what it meant for the people of Grand Bay before we arrive at The Coal Pot Soaps Manufacturer.  We will see how this woman owned business hand crafts natural soaps using herbs and pure essential oils. Next we will stop for lunch before a quick and easy rainforest hike to visit Fond Morgan Waterfall. Our day will end with a refreshing swim before heading back to the hotel for dinner where you may decide to rest, swim or relax, as your last day on Dominica comes to an end, BUT it’s not over yet! We still have our farewell dinner to enjoy with our new friends who have helped us create lasting memories during our time on this lovely nature island. Breakfast Included / Dinner Included   

Day 11. Goodbye Dominica!

Today we will say goodbye to all of our lovely ladies who have participated in making this retreat one to remember. We hope to welcome you back soon to enjoy another one of our tours and discover more hidden gems in Dominica! Breakfast Included

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

 

Changes by Participants

Since changes are considered canceled services, additional cancellation penalties may apply. Changes are subject to additional hotel charges based on availability and may incur additional fees. Changes to airfare are subject to the carrier’s Terms and Conditions and are not the obligation of FFCT. 

 

If you are unable to complete the tour due to an inability to maintain the speed necessary to keep up with the tour group of participants, or due to any physical limitation, there shall be no refunds owed if you are unable or prevented from completing the tour. 

 

Cancellation

As described above, FFCT is required to pay certain suppliers well in advance of your tour date.  This includes but is not limited to hotel accommodations, meals, entrance fees, transportation, etc. All suppliers have their own cancellation policies, which apply to your booking.  Should a cancellation become necessary, please inform FFCT immediately in writing and request a written confirmation of your cancellation. Upon receipt, FFCT will follow industry procedures for any applicable refunds as outlined in the supplier’s terms and conditions and subject to their review.  If you are entitled to a refund, please note that the supplier is responsible for this refund, not FFCT.  Likewise, we are not responsible for a supplier’s failure to pay a refund, their insolvency or bankruptcy. 

 

In addition to the terms of our suppliers, refunds for any monies paid to FFCT will be refundable for cancellations per the cancellation table below, less any non-refundable payments/deposits made by FFCT to our Suppliers.  Also deducted from the net refundable amount will be any adjustments for room rate changes created by the cancellation (i.e., double to single, etc.) NO REFUNDS, for any reason will be paid for cancellations received 45 days or less from the departure date.

 

Since FFCT will pay certain deposits and costs to suppliers prior to the date of travel, FFCT will assess the following cancellation charges as follows:

If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your travel protection plan you may be able to reclaim these charges, for this reason FFCT requires the purchase of a travel protection plan including additional “cancel for any reason” coverage.

Airline tickets are governed by the air carriers’ terms, and we are not responsible for any air carrier’s decision regarding refund.

 

Cancellation or Changes by FFCT

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule any departure for any reason. If we cancel, except in the case of a force majeure event, we will offer alternate arrangements.  We may at our sole discretion offer travel vouchers or refunds in accordance with the cancellation schedule above.  Participants are responsible for any additional costs for air tickets or other travel arrangements not made by us.

 

If between planning time and/or during actual travel, circumstances require changes, FFCT and its suppliers, reserve the right to cancel or vary any itinerary and substitute components of any tour, including but not limited to hotels and accommodations of comparable quality, if air schedule or surface transportation charges, security matters, and/or other events make such alterations necessary. Suppliers may substitute transportation equipment depending on any variety of factors, including the volume of passengers on the tour. FFCT cannot be held responsible for any closures, necessary itinerary changes, or curtails for any reason. These changes will not be considered material changes and will not be considered cause for cancellation by the participant. Normal cancellation penalties still apply to the tour that has been changed.

 

NO REFUND FOR UNUSED ARRANGEMENTS.  As FFCT prices are based on contract rates, there will not be any refund for any unused portion of a travel booking. If you cancel while the tour is in progress, there is no refund for the unused portion.
