Day 2

Exotic Birds, Milton Falls & Beach

Grab your binoculars cause we’re off to search for the endemic and critically endangered Sisserou Parrot with the birding specialist of Dominica! The Amazona Imperialis is a colorful parrot that lives only in the Canopy of Dominica and is also the national bird as it is represented on the Flag. Keep an eye out for the Jaco Parrot and the Kalinago Wren, two other endemic birds of Dominica. You’ll also see birds such as Blue Headed Hummingbirds, Antillean Crested Hummingbirds, and Roufus Throated Solitaires. After our bird-watching adventure, a beautiful waterfall awaits us, Milton Falls, standing over 100ft. Get out your cameras and snap some selfies in front of this magnificent waterfall. After lunch, our quest for today brings us to Fort Shirley, located in Cabrits National Park. Learn about the history within the walls of Fort Shirley, an old garrison built in the 18th century, where many revolts took place for control over the island and fights for freedom. The rest of the day will be spent at the beach listening to the lulling sounds of the Caribbean Sea before sunset.

Day 3

Caribbean Cooking & Champagne Reef

This morning, we are heading to Giraudel, a village known for its flower growers and annual flower shows. A Caribbean cooking class will teach the basics of preparing and cooking a Caribbean delicacy using locally sourced fresh herbs and spices. The best part? Afterwards we eat what we cook on the beautiful scenic balcony overlooking the ocean! In the afternoon we will go snorkeling at Champagne Reef, which gets its name from the many volcanically active fumaroles, making it seem as if you’re snorkeling in a champagne bottle. Try to find as many colorful fish as you can before relaxing on the beach with a tropical drink in hand. Before we go back to the hotel, we’ll stop at the botanical gardens and take a stroll up Jacks Walk to the top of Morne Bruce lookout where you’ll get panoramic views overlooking Roseau.

Day 4

Whales, Scotts Head & Bubble Beach

We are heading towards the southern tip of Dominica this morning. Scotts Head, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, sits over the Soufriere Marine Reserve. This lookout point will give us 360-degree views of the southern mountains, Scotts Head village, the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. After, we will stop at Bubble Beach, a geothermal phenomenon happening right under the ocean floor. Lunch will be served at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the ocean before getting on the whale watching charter. Sperm Whales reside off Dominica shores all year long and today you’re going to try to spot one. You may also see humpback whales, Pilot Whales, Pantropical Spotted Dolphins and Bottlenose Dolphins just to name a few. Don’t forget the fish! Keep your eye out for the many fish that also reside here such as Yellowfin, Marlin and Tarpon. Some very large fish have been caught in these waters by local village fisherman.

Day 5

Chaudiere, Red Rocks & Gin

Today starts with a refreshing morning swim at Chaudiere Pool, a natural swimming hole carved out of grey rock surrounded by rainforest before our chocolate experience. Once at Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory, we will learn how chocolate is produced from bean to bar right here in Dominica using locally sourced cocoa beans. Sample the different flavors of chocolate such as ginger, hot pepper or lemongrass before we head over to Red Rocks. This experience will have you thinking that you just stepped onto Mars! These oxidized geological formations that protrude into the ocean also have caves that you can explore, so make sure not to miss this! Next, we will be stopping at a local Gin Distillery to learn how it is made using Dominica’s Natural Botanicals such as cinnamon, cocoa & nutmeg before going to relax at Number One Beach, where the ocean collides with a river.
